Will has finally been located in Mississippi, thanks to information provided by Bobby Davis. I recently had the chance to speak to him by phone for the first time since graduation.

Will says he has never been to a class reunion (including the 1998 reunion), but hopes to be at the next one.

With help from his wife Glenda, Will provided this story of what happened to him after graduation.

Will's Story

After graduation, I went to work in the oil field around Big Spring for Harding Well Service for about a year.

In 1972, I went in the Marine Corps and stayed in for about four years until 1976. During that time I was stationed in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Maryland. The last two years of duty was in London, England and Scotland. Got a chance to see a little bit of Europe and make a decision it I wanted to make a career out of the marines. The answer was no.

I got out of the marines in 1976, worked in a plant in Los Angeles for about 6 months and decided both plant work and California was not a place for this Texan.

Moved to Louisiana and started working offshore on production platforms as a roustabout. In 1977, Tenneco Oil Company hired me and I worked myself up from a roustabout to a production foreman in 1984.

In 1981, I moved to Mississippi and in 1982, met my wife Glenda. We got married in 1983.

In 1988, Glenda, Daphne, and myself moved back to California, but this time it was to a town called Ventura, just south of Santa Barbara. I stayed there to the end of 1988 until Tenneco Oil was bought out by Chevron Oil Co.

We moved back to Mississippi and I became a construction foreman with Chevron in 1990 and still fill that position today. In November of this year, I will have 20 years with Chevron because they counted my time with Tenneco Oil.

So much for work, now the fun part, my family and hobbies. Glenda and myself have a daughter named Daphne, a son in law from Corpus Christi named Paul and two grandsons, Justin (age 7) and Jordan(age 5). We also have horses, 5 exotic birds(2 amazons, 1 Africian grey, and 2 macaws). Oh, almost forgot the 2 west highland terriers (Stonewall Jackson and Miss Southern Belle). I guess that you gather that we live out in the country and I love it to death.

As far as hobbies; fishing, golfing, and motorcycle riding. Glenda and I went to Texas to visit dad in the hospital at Big Spring. While we were there we stopped at the Harley Davidson shop in Big Spring and bought the first of our two Harley Davidson motorcycles. I drove it back to Pass Christian, Mississippi from Big Spring and in the next month bought the second one because our motorcycle turned into Glenda’s motorcycle.

Dad passed away in November of 1996 and have not been back to Big Spring since then. But whenever I looked at the Harleys, I have to smile and say “Dad, you bought my first motorcycle and caused me to buy this one”.

Anyway, that is a quick run down of what I have been up to since 1971. I thank the Lord everyday for the life he has given me and for Glenda. I never knew how lucky I was for the upbringing given to me by my parents, the friends I had in high school, and the education that I received, until I got a chance to compare with what others had later on in my life.
