In the fall, after our graduation, I set off for Canyon, Texas to attend West Texas State University. The first week that I was there I met my future husband, Michael Lewis. We were married July 7, 1972.
I finishedcollege with a degree in elementary education in December of 1974. In October of 1975, I had my first child, Michelle. I was very happy at that point in my life to be a stay at home Mom. In February of 1978, Lance came along. The kids kept me very busy. A few years later, I also kept foster babies for a Children's Home here in Amarillo. When Lance started first grade, I started to work.
My first job as a teacher was a very unusual job. My first class of students were non-English students. They were all of Vietnamese and
Loatian descent. It was an interesting year!! Since that time, I have
taught 1st grade, 4th grade, and I am presently teaching 2nd grade. This is my 14th year to teach.
I have always tried to be very active in my children's lives. We managed to make all the basketball and football games and band concerts. Michelle and Lance now attend Lubbock Christian University. They have been active in a singing group which has taken them through 38 states and 8 foreign countries.
Michael and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this past summer. We celebrated by taking a trip to Branson and St. Louis.
I am looking forward to seeing all of the '71 graduates and hearing their life stories.
