The Author

Katherine Jurgens

A former news reporter, I now work as a free-lance journalist. I love to
write science fiction. Funnily enough, though, I tend to read more science
fact than fiction, anything to do with quantum mechanics, the search for the Grand Unified Theory, that sort of thing.

I grew up in North West N.J. graduated with degrees in journalism and
education from William Paterson University (then a college) and then worked as a reporter in the UK from 85-89. Now married, I live with my English hubby and children in rural N.Y.

Lost in Space (in repeats, I swear!!) was my can't wait to get home from
school afternoon joy. Some episodes truly scared me when I was little.
Check under your bed stuff. I still loved it for itself, even though I
became a Star Trek fan in High School. I loved each show for what it was, as it was. Still do. Now as a parent, I have recently enjoyed sharing the charm of Lost in Space with my children.

Sharing this special to me show with my boys has brought back so many happy memories and also a yearning to reconnect with the stories of these wonderful characters. Enough that I found myself wanting to write my own LIS story. So here it is - born of a snatch of daydream - a flash of What If?

What if a fairy tale invaded day to day life? How would the characters cope? How would they find their way back to their own lives? I truly hope you enjoy reading my story: By the Book, as much as I enjoyed writing it!
