Strange Occurances

Author's Notes:

I just have to say I loved the movie "Lost In Space"! I kept my ticket stub from when I went to the theatre to watch it. I have the video of it now and the soundtrack. Anyway, I based this story plot on some of the crazy tricks that were in the original television show. As a teenaged boy, who grew up watching "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", my imagination craves special effects. My favorite types are when they effect someone's voice if they're shrunk or enlarged. Having two of the same person is very creative, but since there was an older version of Will Robinson and a spider version of Dr. Smith I won't use that. Instead I'm using these effects in my story: 3 characters get SHRUNK to toy size; 2 characters are MIND SWITCHED; And another is DE-AGED to a toddler. Nothing happens to the Robot, Blawp or the seventh character (which is one of the Robinsons). The story takes place exactly where the movie itself left.

SCENE 1: Outer Space

We see Major West and the Robinsons as they were about to escape the black hole left by the planet that Will Robinson's future self's time-machine had destoyed.

DON: "Setting couse for Alpha Prime, I hope."

Will leaps into his seat.

JOHN: "Initiate, NOW!"

WILL: "Cool!"

The Jupiter 2 blasts into hyperspace. Moments later it appears in a new solar system.

PENNY: "Man, that rocked!"

JUDY: "Yeah, I'm glad I got to watch this time."

MAUREEN: "So where are we now?"

Major West checks his equipment.

DON: "According to the other ship's star maps, about 300 space-miles from Alpha Prime."

JUDY: "Hey, that's great!"

WILL: "Yeah, we're a decade early then, aren't we dad?!"

JOHN: "Yep, thanks to your future self son. I sure miss him."

Judy gives her little brother a hug.

JUDY: "Well, at least we still got this little version right here!"

WILL: "Boy after meeting that me, I better start shaving."

Penny and her mom giggle. Maureen looks out at a planet that has a giant ball of ecectrodes is hovering all around it.

MAUREEN: "Hey, what's that?"

DON: "Hmm, that's odd. What say we go down there commander? I mean like Will said, we're a decade early."

JOHN: "Sure, why not?! Besides I want to go out and check the hull."

Dr. Smith rushes up to the others.

SMITH: "Capitol idea! May I come too?"

DON: "The only capitol you're gonna see is the monument I call The LincASS-KICKER!"

SMITH: "Now now, there's children present."

PENNY: "So what?! We spent half our lives watching MTV."

DON: "No, he's right-as much as I hate admitting it."

JOHN: "Robot, you can take Smith out for a breather. Don't let him touch anything. I'll take Will with me out in the Chariot as soon as we land. You girls help Don here check the ship's system."

SCENE 2: The Planet Techode

As the Jupiter lands, Will, Don and John prepare a go-kart like vehicle known as the Chariot.

JOHN: "Boy this thing looks great. I thought you said it wound up scrap metal."

DON: "Yeah well, I was kinda hoping I could take your daughter for a ride without ya's all knowing."

JOHN: "You like Judy huh?!"

Don rubs his neck and nods.

JOHN: "It's allright Major. The Misses always wanted to see Judy find someone to love."

DON: "Yeah, but it's just that when I said to you that I'd like to kiss her, I thought you would say 'Yeah, me too.' Instead she calls you 'Dad' and I'm left looking like a putz!"

WILL: "Once some guy at the mall asked me if Penny and I were going out. Man she almost keeled over laughin'!"

JOHN: "Well, it's all set. Ready kid?"

WILL: "Yep."

Maureen walks in to say good by to the male Robinsons.

MAUREEN: "You guys be careful. Mind your father, honey."

WILL: "I will."

Maureen gives Will a hug and kisses John goodbye. Don walks over to Judy, who rubs his head.

DON: "Hey Jud, how you doin'?"

JUDY: "Oh, you!"

JOHN: "Hey Maureen, If you could find something for Don to do with Judy, outside."

MAUREEN: "Oh I see."

John and Will strap themselves into the front seats of the Chariot (Will in the driver's seat).

MAUREEN: "You sure he'll be able to handle it John?"

JOHN: "Oh sure! This thing was designed for a family. Anyone can drive it."

WILL: "Bye Mom!!"

Maureen, Judy and Don wave goodbye as Will drives the Chariot out of the ship, down the long, long plank, and onto the unknown planet's terrain.

JUDY: "All right, let's get to work."

Judy and Don walk off together heading across the holographic map generator.

MAUREEN: "Like I said, daytime's a beautiful thing."

Meanwhile, outside the ship, Smith and the Robot are walking around, looking at a bizarre heap of strange devices.

SMITH: "My, what an interesting area!"

ROBOT: "Warning! Warning! You are aloud to touch nothing."

SMITH: "Oh spare me you rotchenous heap of bolts! Robinson merely wants me to have nothing to do with him or his family. But they need me either way. Tis better to have more than one doctor at a time. Wouldn't you say?"

ROBOT: "I wouldn't know. I am merely a machine, programmed and controlled by a child. I have no need for doctors. But if I did, I'd certainly rather have Judy or even Penny Robinson help me than you."

Smith sneers at the machine. He picks up a bright blue ray gun with a red radar dish for the barrell. On the side of it is a switch, in left possition. The dot next to it is smaller than the one on the other side of the switch's track. Smith aims it at a sheet of metal, and pulls the trigger. A yellow ray is blasted and exposed to the aluminum, which is miniaturized into a hand-sized scrap.

SMITH: "Incredible!"

ROBOT: "All right, that's it bub!"

The Robot aims his laser at Smith who quickly ducks. The blaster zapps another nearbye device, which glows blue, around Smith.

SMITH: "Good God! You could have killed me!"

ROBOT: "Put the ray down! I promise not to hurt you any more than possible."

SMITH: "Try me!"

DON: "What's going on here?"

At that moment Don runs up with Judy and Penny.

SMITH: "This, insane maniac was about to destroy me!"

DON: "Really?! How come?"

ROBOT: "He stole a powerful device without knowing the consequences."

SMITH: "It's mine! And you're not going to have it taken from me!"

Don gets impatient.

DON: "All right, let me see it you little pip squeak!"

Don fights Smith for the ray which falls to the ground and is triggered. Don and the girls are all zapped and shrink.

SMITH: "Very well, it's yours now."

Smith leaves the robot and the shrunken trio. Don quick runs over to Judy and Penny. Their voices are all high pitched.

PENNY: "What the heck is wrong with us? Why do I sound like a mouse?"

JUDY: "I don't know. It must be some kind of side effect to, whatever's wrong with us."

DON: "Hey, the Robot's lookin' at us."

Judy yells to the Robot.

JUDY: "Robot! Can you hear me?"

ROBOT: "Perfectly. My amphlifacatable hearing modules allow me to do so. Do not worry Major West and sisters of young Will Robinson. I will take you inside along with the machine which has caused this."

PENNY: "Well that's a relief."

The Robot gathers Don and the girls, with the Shrink-Ray and leaves.

SCENE 3: Elsewhere on the Planet

Will and John study a vast array of machines.

WILL: "Looks like rejects from a Science Fair."

JOHN: "Yeah. Just looking at these makes me wish I had attended those more often."

WILL: "Hey Dad, look!"

Will puts on a helmet wired to a strange generator.

JOHN: "That's neat. What is it?"

WILL: "I don't know. Here, put the other one on your head."

John puts a second helmet on his head and Will flips the switch on the generator.

WILL: "Hmm, must be powering up or something."

A light on the generator flashes and Will pulls the switch back the way it was, which causes both John and Will to be zapped by a strange force from the two helmets. The two are zapped so hard, their skeletons are visible through the glowing silouettes of their bodies. The generator stops and both John and Will collapse near one another.

SCENE 4: Back in the Jupiter

Maureen is shocked to see her daughters and Major West all the size of toys.

MAUREEN: "This is unbeliveable."

PENNY: "Tell me about it. I finally start growing, now I'm smaller than ever."

MAUREEN: "God you, sound like Minnie Mouse."

DON: "Yeah, thanks for the imput. Yo Robot, did you figure anything out yet?"

ROBOT: "Yes. 1, this machine is capable of miniaturizing anything to a 10th it's size. No more no less. 2, it also has an opposite feature. Once set to re-enlarge it is capable of returning you to your original height. It also has the ability to enlarge objects to any size, as if it were blown up like a baloon. 3..."

JUDY: "Three?"

ROBOT: "3, it's broken. I'm afraid I will have to use someone capable of handling loosened bolts and wires. Mrs. Robinson, can you help?"

MAUREEN: "Well, it's worth a shot."

Maureen takes the dented device to look at it. Meanwhile Blawp jumps up onto the table where Don, Judy and Penny are. Don leaps in fright at how huge Blawp is to them.

DON: "Geez Penny, what've you been feeding that little thing?"

PENNY: "Same thing you fed him, those pastrie snacks."

DON: "I guess those things are high in fat or something."

JUDY: "Shut up Don. Do you think he recognizes us?"

Blawp reaches down and rubs Penny's back.

PENNY: "Aww! Looks like he does."

SCENE 5: Father and Son

John and Will both come to, groaning. Only they each have one another's voice; they've been mind-switched. In Will's body, John walks back over to the Chariot.

JOHN: "Sheesh, how'd this thing get so much taller all of a sudden?"

Will, in his father's body, sees himself near the Chariot but doesn't realise it yet.

WILL: "Hey Dad, come over here, there's some kid looking at the Cha-."

John turns around to look at his own face, as does Will.

JOHN: "Oh my God. Will, is that you?"

WILL: "Dad?! Holy crap! I-I got your body, and you have mine."

JOHN: "How, how in space could that have happened?"

WILL: "I don't know. Wait, that machine! It must be some sort of Mind-Transfer device."

Will looks around. The Mind-Switching machine is gone.

WILL: "Where'd it go?"

JOHN: "I don't know. Look let's not panic here. We'll go back to the Jupiter, explain what happened and maybe we can get the Robot to do something."

John and Will head back in the Chariot, John driving this time so it looks like Will is.

SCENE 6: The Jupiter

Maureen is having diffculty with all the strange wiring of the Shrink Ray.

MAUREEN: "Cripes! I am never going to figure this out damn it."

ROBOT: "Do not fret Maureen. I will help you with the proper adjustments required to make this function again in hopes to restoring Major West and your daughters to their rightful size."

MAUREEN: "Thank you for the pep-talk. God, if I ever see Smith again I'm going to use this thing on him!"

ROBOT: "That's not such a bad idea."

Maureen laughs at the joke and the Robot joins in.

MAUREEN: "You crack us up Robot"

ROBOT: "I believe it was your son who programmed me with humor."

Noises from the docking bay are heard.

MAUREEN: "Oh good, it's them now."

The Chariot reenters the Jupiter. Will and John both step out.

MAUREEN: "Oh thank god you're back! Did you find anything?"

JOHN: "Well, sort of."

WILL: "We found ourselves in each other's shoes."

MAUREEN: "How come you have each other's voice?"

WILL: "Because we're stuck in each other's body. My brain's here in Dad's head and his brain's in my head."

MAUREEN: "Oh great! You're not going to believe what happened to the others."

JOHN: "What, what happened?"

MAUREEN: "Come see for yourselves."

Maureen runs back to the control deck. Will and John follow. They too are shocked to see what happened to Don, Judy and Penny.

DON: "Hi Professor. Small world huh?"

JOHN: "No kidding."

PENNY: "Whoa Will, cool impression of Dad!"

WILL: "I didn't say anything."

JUDY: "This is getting wierd."

MAUREEN: "Boys, Smith found a ray he used to shrink them. Now it's broken and I can't re-enlarge them without it."

JOHN: "That makes sense."

DON: "What happened to your voices?"

WILL: "It's not our voices. Our brains have been switched."

JUDY: "So, Will is Dad and Dad is Will?!"

MAUREEN: "That would appear so."

The Robot comes in with a young teenager wearing Dr. Smith's clothes (take a wild guess).

ROBOT: "Robinsons, I am affraid we have yet another dilema."

MAUREEN: "Who's that?"

SMITH: "Who does it look like? I'm no more than what I once was. And it's still going thanks to this metallic, bubble-headed bum!"

ROBOT: "Somehow, a device which I blasted earlier at Dr. Smith has caused him to de-age at an amaingly slow rate. Every 20 minutes, he automatically becomes 10 years younger. The process should cease to go on once he has been de-aged again."

SMITH: "You have to help me. I don't want to have to grow up again."

Maureen gets angry.

MAUREEN: "Well after what you did to Don and the girls we shouldn't! And if by any chance you do grow back up, I'm using the Shrink-Ray on you!"

SMITH: "Very well then. Perhaps I should tell you now that I was a very troublesome 4 year-old!"

Smith leaves and heads towards his cell.

DON: "Man, I hate that guy! Now I can't hurt him."

JOHN: "Well maybe I can before he gets any younger."

ROBOT: "Will Robinson, you are growing up awful fast. You sound like your father."

WILL: "Thanks Robot. But right now, I am my father. Our brains are switched."

The Robot takes a moment to compute what he has just been told.

ROBOT: "Whoa!"

Will helps the Robot with the ray while John and Maureen prepare to go out on a scan search for the Mind-Switcher.

ROBOT: "Good, now slide the red wire into the green vector there. Perfect!"

WILL: "This sure would be easier if I had my small hands back."

Will snaps the Shrink-Ray's wiring compartment shut.

WILL: "All right, lets see if it works."

Will picks up Don and the girls, and puts them down on the floor. He sets the ray's switch to ENLARGE and zaps them. Don, Judy and Penny are normal sized again, as are their voices.

DON: "Good work Commander, I mean uh, Will!"

Will turns the ray off and sets it down on the console.

PENNY: "I hope Mom and Dad can find that machine."

JOHN & MAUREEN: "Found it!"

Maureen lugs the Mind-Switcher in with the help of a strange yellow creature who looks like a Dr. Suess character.

JUDY: "Who's this?"

MAUREEN: "This is Ebo."

EBO: "I am a collector of all things invented that are lost or chucked. I use my tractor beam, which isn't to strong I might add, to bring them here. Why have over 150 things you Earthlings have invented and disposed of over the past 300 years. You're free to take whatever you like. I see you have already found the Shrink-Ray."

DON: "Yeah that thing gave us a bit of a problem."

WILL: "I'd love to keep it!"

EBO: "Then it is yours. And now to the business at hand. It's a good thing you found me. I was about to send this stupid Mind-Switcher back where I found it. It's caused nothing but disaster."

The alien places the helmets on John and Will's heads.

EBO: "Brace yourselves."

Ebo flips the switch to the generator, waits and pulls it back again. John and Will are zapped again, just like before. Only this time they don't conk out. Their minds and voices are back in the right bodies.

WILL: "Hey, I can see my arms. I'm me again!"

JOHN: "Me too!"

John gives his son a warm hug.

JOHN: "I'm glad not to be a kid again Sport, but it was neat seeing myself from your perspective."

WILL: "Thanks Dad. I'm glad to be a kid again!"

EBO: "Well I've got to get going. Ta-Ta!"

PENNY: "Hey, what do you call this planet?"

EBO: "I call it the Planet Techode."

Ebo leaves and everyone waves goodbye. As the Jupiter takes off, now with fresh new energy for the core material, Will looks back at the planet.

WILL: "I wonder if he has my time-machine."

DON: "What? I though it was incinerated."

JOHN: "Well he made a small one on Earth that never worked."

Suddenly, Dr. Smith enters as a toddler with nothing on him but underwear.

SMITH: "Stupid planet!"

JUDY: "Oh my gosh!"

PENNY: "He's so cute!"

Penny picks up Blawp and puts him next to Smith. John and Maureen laugh.

WILL: "Looks like I'm not the youngest one anymore."

DON: "For now anyway."

ROBOT: "The transformation was 20 minutes ago. It'll only last another 10 minutes or so."

MAUREEN: "In that case let me put him down for a nap!"

JOHN: "Yeah, a short one."
